Arcada is the first University of Applied Sciences in Finland to join the Caravan to Ukraine

At Arcada University of Applied Sciences (UAS), both students and staff are working together to show their support for Ukraine. After three years of full-scale war, the Arcada for Ukraine campaign is needed more than ever, with the goal of raising 25,000 euro to fund an ambulance to be delivered to Ukraine.

It has been three years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. To show its continued support for Ukraine, Arcada is the first UAS in Finland to participate in the national project Caravan to Ukraine. During spring 2025, the school will run their own campaign Arcada for Ukraine.

“Arcada for Ukraine creates community and hope, while doing something substantial for Ukraine. We save lives! I sometimes feel totally powerless in the face of the gloomy news flow – that's why this feels important and meaningful. No single person can do everything, but everyone can do something,” says Jan Nåls, one of the project leaders of the campaign.

The goal of the campaign is to raise 25,000 euro to finance an ambulance with equipment that will be driven down to Ukraine, where it will be handed over to the local partner of the Caravan to Ukraine.

“Beyond the ambulance, we want to show that everyone can contribute to the good in the world. Together we can ensure that Ukraine's struggle is not forgotten,” says Jan Svensson, one of the project leaders. Svensson is studying social work at Arcada and is one of the students who is active in the campaign.

The Arcada for Ukraine campaign actively involves over 30 people and includes students from different study programmes, teachers and administrative staff.

“Ultimately, we hope that the campaign will touch everyone who studies and works at Arcada,” says Nåls.

To kick off the fundraising, Arcada is organising a launch event on 12 March 2025 at 12 p.m. During the event, hosted on Arcada’s campus, the campaign will be presented, and the project team will explain how they will work to reach the goal. Welcome to support the Arcada for Ukraine campaign!
