Arcada's nursing programme receives the highest rating in Finland

The nursing programme at Arcada is the best in the country in a comparison between Finnish universities of applied sciences. This is according to the AVOP survey 2023, a feedback survey for UAS students in the final stage of their studies.
Arcada provides nursing education in both Swedish and English. According to the 2023 survey, the average score for the two nursing programmes is 5.98, the highest in Finland. The national average stands at 5.27.
"Arcada is a small university of applied sciences, which creates a close community between teachers and students. This enables personal guidance and individualised teaching. We truly want to get to know our students, resulting in a supportive and inclusive learning environment," says Jari Savolainen, the degree programme direcor for the Swedish-language nursing programme.
The AVOP scores of the nursing programmes have been at a high level already for several years. In the survey, Arcada's nursing students especially highlight the support services, the content of the studies, the teaching and how satisfied they are with their education. The opportunities for simulation and practical training are also appreciated.
"Our learning environments are nationally recognised, and in addition, we actively seek to create partnerships with employers and to offer internship opportunities that provide diverse and developing work experiences and contacts," says Savolainen.
Arcada's top-up nursing education stands out
Arcada's flexible study solutions for nurses, such as the supplementary top-up programme for nurses who have already graduated in another country, achieve record-high scores in the national comparison.
"The programme is a unique package that covers everything needed to work as a nurse in Finland, from skills to languages. In addition, we offer students opportunities to enter working life right from the start of their studies thanks to our excellent contacts in the industry," says Terese Sjölund, degree programme director at the English-language nursing programme.
By welcoming and promoting diversity in nursing programmes, Arcada creates an environment where students have the opportunity to both learn from and interact with different cultures. This is essential to prepare them for the global and diverse work environment in healthcare.
"Our commitment to diversity and inclusion creates a community where different experiences and perspectives are encouraged and respected. This diversity-focused approach not only strengthens the students' competences but also contributes to a richer and more holistic nursing education," Sjölund summarises.
Application to the Swedish-language nursing programme at Arcada is open March 13 to March 27, 2024. The next admission to the Nursing TopUp programme is in autumn 2024 for studies beginning in January 2025.
