On Wednesday 15 March, the application to Arcada's Swedish-language degree programmes at both bachelor's and master's level begins. The application period lasts for two weeks until 30 March at 3 p.m. (Finnish time).
Arcada University of Applied Sciences (UAS) and Åland UAS are launching an English-language engineering degree programme at master’s level. The programme focuses on energy automation and sustainability. The one-year master's programme goes by the name Energy Automation Sustainable Engineering (EASE) and has strong connections to the business world.
Already ten years ago Arcada set off its research in AI (artificial intelligence) and pioneered the field with a master's programme in Big Data Analytics. In recent years, Arcada further sharpened its focus in AI research by specifically focusing on ethical issues related to new technologies and on the interaction between humans and robots. So far, dentistry, elderly care, rehabilitation, and preventive health care have benefited from this research – and now the focus is set on child-robot interaction.
Arcada's partnership with The Helsinki Metropolitan Area sports academy Urhea supports those who want to focus on their sports career and get an education at the same time. For the students, it's valuable to be able to get a degree while aiming for the medals.
The new learning environment Arcada Health Tech Hub will be completed in the spring of 2023 thanks to a €25,000 donation from the multi-branch company Algol. The centre will be used primarily by students in occupational therapy and physiotherapy, but will also provide a space for professionals, researchers and companies to come together around health technology solutions.

The Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership project “INTERLOCALITY - increased local employability of international degree students” is taking Arcada one step closer to the aim of increasing local employment and retention among international degree students and graduates, within the fields of engineering and business administration.

The Ministry of Education and Culture has granted ten universities of applied sciences in Finland a total of EUR 5 million in state funding for research, development and innovation. Arcada is awarded 500,000 euro to continue developing its strategic focus on trustworthy AI (artificial intelligence).
