Arcada and Åland UAS launch master's degree programme which responds to the need for more sustainable solutions in the energy industry
Published: 14.03.2023 / Press release
Arcada University of Applied Sciences (UAS) and Åland UAS are launching an English-language engineering degree programme at master’s level. The programme focuses on energy automation and sustainability. The one-year master's programme goes by the name Energy Automation Sustainable Engineering (EASE) and has strong connections to the business world.
– EASE is completely up to date and responds to the needs of society. I am proud that Arcada is involved in educating the leading engineers of the future who will play a key role in the transition towards more sustainable and circular solutions in energy technology, says Mona Forsskåhl, Rector at Arcada.
Thanks to the collaboration between Arcada and Åland UAS, students will be taught by teaching teams who have an extensive and up-to-date expertise in energy automation. The studies include everything from systems for monitoring and control to data analysis. Degree Programme Director Matias Waller sees great potential in the collaboration with industries and other higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Nordic countries.
– We are very happy that EASE already has industrial partners such as Ilmatar Offshore, Inficon, Flexens and OX2. The programme also includes a Nordic network of HEIs. The students will have the opportunity to collaborate and participate in joint projects with Mälardalen University in Sweden and Aalborg University in Denmark, says Waller.
The application to the programme opens in September 2023 and the first students begin their studies in January 2024. The studies are conducted in a hybrid format: partly online, partly on site with a few campus weeks during the spring in both Helsinki and Mariehamn. The UASs have separate applications with 15 places each. Read more about the programme on the Arcada website.
