Anne Söderlund, Professor in Physiotherapy at Mälardalen University, will be Arcada's first affiliated professor. With the appointment, Arcada wants to strengthen its Nordic network and research.

The appointment of an affiliated professor is a result of long-term collaboration with Mälardalen University in Sweden. The aim is to make joint Nordic project investments in research and innovation as well as to create possibilities for further co-operation at a European level. Through increased knowledge exchange, the aim is to contribute to new solutions that link health and welfare with new technology.

Anne Söderlund has a solid research background in health and welfare and strengthens Arcada's expertise in behavioral medicine. According to Henrika Franck, Arcada's Vice Rector of Research and Innovation, the appointment strengthens Arcada's collaboration and broadens its research, especially in physiotherapy and behavioral medicine.

- For us, connecting with Anne was an easy choice. This is an opening to a broader network of affiliated research contacts within Arcada's key research areas, which strengthens both our Nordic profile and our position as the most research-intensive university of applied sciences in Finland, says Franck.

The appointment means, among other things, that Anne Söderlund will participate in supervision and project development at Arcada.

- It is important for Mälardalen University to increase research exchange internationally. This collaboration will have a positive effect on MDH's research network and on our ongoing and future research. MDH and Arcada will also get the chance to contribute ideas to each other's programmes, says Söderlund.

Anne Söderlund is Arcada's first affiliated professor. Arcada has previously appointed Nathalie Hyde-Clarke from OsloMet as an affiliated research lecturer.
