Arcada film nominated for award at the Love & Anarchy film festival

The film Emotional Labour Club (in Swedish: Anonyma kärleksarbetare), created by students at Arcada’s bachelor’s degree programme in film and media, will be shown in September at the Love & Anarchy film festival. The production is nominated in a short film competition focusing on domestic film.
The short film competition Cut to the Chase – R&A Shorts is organised from the 23rd to the 27th of September as part of the film festival Love & Anarchy (Rakkautta & Anarkiaa) in Helsinki. The Arcada production Emotional Labour Club, directed by Sofie Häkkinen, is nominated in the contest and shown in the category Domestic Film 5.
- It feels great and unexpected that Emotional Labour Club was nominated. With the film, I wanted to convey the important subject of emotional work in relationships, but through an exaggerated comedy-drama. It’s nice that the film now reaches a larger audience through the festival, and in a new and reworked version that few have yet seen, says director Sofie Häkkinen.
A total of 36 fictions, documentaries and animated films compete in Cut to the Chase – R&A Shorts, where the focus is on domestic and Nordic film.

Iris is exhausted from taking all the practical and emotional responsibility in her relationship. She comes in contact with a mysterious support group that introduces her to a dubious method.
