Arcada celebrates 25-year anniversary

The opening of the academic year 2021-2022 marked the beginning of Arcada’s 25th anniversary. Minister of education Li Andersson delivered the celebratory speech during the event, that was streamed online this year.
The virtual party on Wednesday, September 1 was attended by students, staff and invited guests.
Arcada’s rector Mona Forsskåhl opened the academic year. In her speech, she reflected on everything that has been achieved at Arcada over the past 25 years.
- Arcada has been at the forefront both within teaching and research. As we today start the celebrations of our 25-year anniversary, we continue to look to the future, eager to remain one step ahead. I’m proud to say that we are forerunners in the field of the responsible use of AI and use of simulations in our pedagogy.
Minister of Education Li Andersson delivered the celebratory speech. She discussed the importance of investments in wellbeing, both for students and staff.
- We know that wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. It is great, that Arcada has realized the importance of this and has taken concrete measures, such as establishing the Unit for guidance and student well-being.
Andersson also highlighted the work for sustainability at all levels: social, ecological, economic and cultural.
- The vision is for the Nordic region to be the world's most sustainable and integrated region by 2030. The higher education community has an important role when it comes to contributing to this goal.
Other speeches were given by Marcus Rantala, Chairman of the Board of Arcada University of Applied Sciences and Ida Flemmich, Chairman of the Arcada Student Union - ASK.
During the opening of the academic year, Arcada's new fundraising campaign Arcada25, with the aim to create new learning environments, was launched.
