Arcada launches new strategy

Published: 02.09.2020 / Education

Arcada’s strategy aiming at 2030 has now been launched. The strategy focuses on, among other things, smart solutions and Nordic co-operation.

The strategy, called Arcada at the forefront – We put education and culture to work for a rewarding and sustainable life, will be fully implemented from 2021.

Aiming at 2030, the goal is to contribute to a dynamic working life and a vibrant Swedish-language culture in a multicultural Finland. The UAS must also support continuous learning and offer lifelong career support.

- With the new strategy, we put education into work for a rewarding and sustainable life. We achieve this with an inclusive and encouraging environment, a respectful and ambitious culture and with a humane and agile way of working, says Arcada’s Rector Mona Forsskåhl.

Arcada’s vision in the new strategy is to be a globally relevant educational institution that creates smart solutions through socially relevant education and research. This means, among other things, that all of Arcada’s degree programmes must include research-, development- and innovation activities and include cross-programme modules.

A strong emphasis in the new strategy is also on global co-operation through Nordic networks and programmes that will be offered in co-operation with Nordic partner universities.

- We strive to be constantly at the forefront and in line with the surrounding society. The new strategy gives us direction, but also requires us to take on the challenges of the future. It is our responsibility as a University of Applied Sciences to create new knowledge that carries us well equipped into the future, says Forsskåhl.

1561 kilometers from Helsinki to Ukraine documented by Arcada’s students

In the learning environments for media students at Arcada University of Applied Sciences, a 1561-kilometer charity relay is being transformed into visibility for the organisation “The Caravan to Ukraine”. Community engagement and making a difference are important, says the student team behind the editorial office.
